The benefit to using egg yolk in your hair care routine is that eggs are full of hair growth enhancing vitamins, minerals and proteins which also aid; hair thickness and your hair’s strength. So for all recipes, (even though these are for going on your head and not in your mouth), it is best to use organic free range eggs. The reason for this is that cage free organic eggs are the most nutrient dense variety of egg and consequently better for your hair health. Olive Oil & Honey Hair Mask
- This is a high protein mask for weak, dry, damaged hair.
- Mix 2 tablespoons of extra virgin olive oil with 2 organic egg yolks and 1 teaspoon of honey.
- This is best applied to damp hair before or after your first shampoo. Leave on for fifteen to twenty minutes and wash out with shampoo/conditioner and cool water.
- TIP: Do not wash egg out of your hair with hot water water unless you want scrambled egg hair which is not in fashion…yet
Yogurt and Mayonnaise Hair Mask
Calcium promotes long and healthy hair and is important for the optimum absorption of vitamin D. The lactic acid and zinc in the yogurt improves hair growth.
Take 1 egg, a quarter cup of plain yogurt and a quarter cup of mayonnaise. If you do not have mayonnaise then use one cup of yogurt and 1 tablespoon of olive oil. Mix all ingredients in a bowl or blender then apply to hair for 20-30 minutes and rinse with shampoo, conditioner and cool water
